In today’s Q & Cake (our own fancy version of Q & A) we iscuss several questions from listeners about planning for custom artwork, wedding invitation workflows, overcoming loneliness working from home, streamlining your process with Dubsado and whether you need a business or personal Instagram account. These are questions from fellow artists, calligraphers, designers, stationers, etc. that will hopefully help you in your own biz journey as a creativepreneur!
How do you plan your custom artwork? As in how many do you take on and know that is the right amount? How do you best plan that out? – @inkanotes
I am a stationery designer and wanted to know if you could possibly discuss more about the breakdown of your workflows. Right now, I have 3 – lead, design, and production. Should I have more? Sometimes I feel like my workflows are too long and sometimes I need to break them down. For example, when your lead workflow initiates, do you automatically have your proposal and contract activate for that workflow funneled inquiry? – @themoxieworkshop
Working full time on your own must have its struggles. How have you overcome loneliness day to day if you have felt this and do you have any tips on how to build connection with other business owners other than your typical networking meetings? – @jlcalligraphy
My biz is still fairly new & right now is still my side gig. I have just finished up my 2nd bride and have had a pretty steady stream of other custom prints and sign work and I am realizing that my intake and proof process could be more efficient. Right now I have some premade documents that I use and forward to the brides to get information but it feels clunky and not the best. At what point would you recommend getting a client management system like Dubsado. I know it would definitely improve things but I am not sure if I am jumping the gun and investing in it too early? – @gracecoxcreative
Do you feel like it is necessary to switch to a business Instagram account? – @theauthentichand
