What is The Party Method?

The party method is a strategy that you can use to increase your product sales on Instagram. It involves 5 steps.

  1. Prepare your home

  2. Invite your guests

  3. Mix and mingle

  4. Get ‘em to take the shot and buy your product

  5. Leave them wanting more/talking about the party

So, how does this translate to a social media marketing strategy for product based businesses? Well, each of these steps represents a different aspect of optimizing your Instagram strategy so that you can reach and create a lasting connection with your customers.

Preparing Your Home

First and foremost, you will want to focus on curating your Instagram feed. It’s important to ensure that your feed is comprised of quality product photographs.

You might be asking, “Do I need to hire a professional product photographer?” The answer is, not necessarily. There are steps you can take to DIY your own awesome product images. For instance, you can use natural lighting and consistent or coordinating backgrounds.

Now that your feed is all set up, you want to turn your attention to your biography. Do you have a clear call to action for your shop here? If not, you’ll definitely want to place one here. This is your ONLY spot for links on your Instagram profile, so Be sure that you’re taking advantage of that space.

Inviting Your Guests/Customers to the Party

Invite your guests in by focusing on establishing connection and building anticipation around your product.

To forge connection, start by giving your audience a behind the scene look at what goes into the creation of your products. You can do this by sharing the story behind your product. Maybe talk about what inspired you to create the product.

To build anticipation, share sneak peaks of your newest products on your Instagram story.

Mix and Mingle

The best party hosts know how to set the tone for the party. They mingle and engage with their guests. They also know how to connect guests with one another so that nobody is left feeling alone or left out.

To set the tone of your Instagram party, make sure that you’re excited about your own product — If you’re not fired up for it no one else will be!

Get excited and get to engaging with your customers. You can encourage them to interact with you by posting polls or questions on your story. Ask for their input and they’ll most likely be happy to share their opinions with you!

Use social proof to connect customers with one another. In some of your call to actions, be sure to ask customers to share photos of your product after they purchase.

Get them to take the shot aka Buy Your Product

Make it easy for your customer to find your product by incorporating clear calls to action. Make it easy for them to find and purchase your product. For instance, insert a direct link to your product in your bio and tell them to navigate there to purchase.

Talk about your product MORE than you think you need to. If you feel like you’re being annoying or salesy that probably means that you are actually doing a great job and promoting sufficiently.

Leave them Wanting More

Basically once they’ve attended your party and taken the shot (bought something), make sure the experience is so awesome, that they are already ready for round two. Connecting with customers both offline and online is important to build traction for future sales.
